From the winds of the moon
To the deep darkness of a street bathed in an orange glow
Feel the push on chest and the chill across a face full of character
A small smile cracks accompanying the rustle of bristle on cloth
As if in response to a jest of a silent unseen comic
A lonely figure standing on a lonely planet
The warrior on his way home
Travelling with a serene rhythm of heart
Breathing the deep minted air
White lights flash a warm greeting
And a rushed farewell
Sulphur like fingers poke from tattered wool
To fumble with paper and tobacco
The crackle and flare as an old friend is brought to lips
And caressed like the purity of truth
The water haze and lightening of step
Makes the time pass a little easier
Until the soft glow retreats
And the still of night fades from the winds of the moon
